BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s October 22 rally in Barisal city has been postponed so that the party leaders can get time for taking preparation for the Dhaka rally slated for October 25, said Mujibur Rahman Sarwar, president of the party’s Barisal city unit.
The rallies are being organised as part of Khaleda’s visit in seven divisions to drum up public support for restoration of the caretaker government system to oversee the 10th general polls.
Khaleda, also the leader of the opposition in parliament, is expected to announce from the Dhaka rally the party’s next course of action to realise the opposition’s key demand for restoring the caretaker government system, reports our Barisal correspondent quoting Rahman, also an opposition lawmaker.
Khaleda has been holding rallies since September 8 to press home its one-point demand.
She has already addressed rallies in Narsingdi, Rangpur, Rajshahi, Khulna and Sylhet.
